- Set up the “Sisterhood Hostel” for residents who have graduated from the female hostel training who can learn to live independently and care for themselves.

- Commenced the “Back to School” scheme to reduce the financial pressure faced by parents during the period where their children return to school period by providing back support school bags, school shoes, book vouchers and supermarket vouchers to the children of prisoners/rehabilitated persons.

- Establishment of the fourth male hostel called the ‘Kindness Hostel’
- Supported by the ‘Correctional Services Department Sports Association’s Fund”, KSA held friendly football friendship matches between correctional staff and rehabilitated persons this was called the Football Friendship Cup
- KSA launched the “Family Empowering Station” ministry to allow the families of male and female hostel residents to receive pastoral support.

- Jointly organised the “Hong Kong Correctional Institutions Bible and Calligraphy Competition” with the Correctional Services Department, Hong Kong Milk and Honey Arts and the Divinity School of Chung Chi College of the Chinese University of Hong Kong
- Held a “Blessing Month” at Correctional Institutions to help inmate learn to give thanks and bless others and spread a culture of blessing.
- Held the “Shining Light” Life Education Concert

- To carry out mentorship and companionship programmes for the children of prisoners and rehabilitated persons. This program was called the ‘Mentorship Scheme’
- Established the “Youth Onesimus” fellowship to shepherd and help young rehabilitated persons.

- the “Abundant grace Charitable Foundation” donated permanent premises for the female hostel, so the female hostel was named the “Abundant grace female hostel”

- Started ministry at the Lo Wu Correctional Institution (Women)
- Responding to the continuous increase in the number of foreign prisoners (called ‘Other Nations’ prisoners’, actively developed English and multi-language speaking ministries to serve this group of people.
- Development of religious classes at the “Hei Ling Chau Correctional Institution” and the “Lai Sun Correctional Institution”
- Opened the first female hostel to provide a wholistic pastoral home for “repeat offender” female rehabilitated persons.

- The KSA office was moved from North Point back to Sham Shui Po, closer to the people that we serve
- Launched the second KSA women’s Social enterprise project: “The Loving Promise” wedding attire shop.

- The “Kun Sun Hostel” Men’s halfway house was established in Sham Shui Po to help rehabilitated persons regain their lives, reconcile with their families and reintegrate into society
- Recording of worship songs created by prisoners titled “Soar Like Eagles”.
- Launched a social enterprise for female rehabilitated persons: “Naomi Concept Ltd” garment workshop
- The Jireh Fund helped KSA to write the “Walking Together Hand in Hand in the Lord” prayer manual for prison ministry.

- With the merger of six boys’ and girls’ homes, KSA began to conduct religious classes and visits at Tuen Mun Children’s and Adolescents’ Homes
- Establishment of a fellowship for rehabilitated persons from a white collar background that was called the ‘No Longer the Same Alumni’

- Set up the “Blue Sky Worship Team” for rehabilitated persons to worship and share in schools, prisons and churches.
- Recording of a new song album created by prisoners called ‘On Freedom’s Wing’

- The KSA office was moved to North Point City Centre, where the old site of 338 Lai Chi Kok Road was used as the “Onesimus” Integrated Training Program Centre and The Halfway House for newly released male rehabilitated persons.
- Set up music therapy at the “Siu Lam Psychiatric Treatment Centre”

- Expanded the religious classes to Lai Chi Kok Detention Center and Siu Lam Psychiatric Treatment Center (Women’s Ward).
- Publication of a collection of prison ministry essays titled: “Walking through prison days together” (both theoretical and practical)

- In partnership with the Department of Corrections started running the ‘Alpha Course’ for prisoners
- In conjunction with the Correctional Services Department and the Prison Pastoral Corps, the CD “Prospects” was composed and performed by a number of correctional inmates.
- Co-organized the “Hong Kong Mediation Centre Elementary Training Course” with the Hong Kong Mediation Centre, combining Christian concepts and criminal mediation

- Expanded the Pik Uk Correctional Institution ministry to Cat A.
- The inauguration ceremony of the Director-General, Pastor Pun Kwok Kwong, was held at the 23rd Anniversary Thanksgiving Meeting
- Co-produced “The Dawn” Karaoke VCD in partnership with the Correctional Services Department in order to let the public have a deeper understanding of those in prison.
- The commencement of classes at three new Institutions: The Music Therapy Group at the Pak Sha Wan Correctional Facility; religious class at the Tai Lam Correctional Institution; religious class at the Chi Ma Wan Addiction Treatment Centre

- Established the Onesimus Comprehensive Training Programme to equip rehabilitated persons to witness for and serve the Lord
- Established a ministry for illegal immigrants from the mainland to shepherd mainland prisoners and follow up with them on their return to their hometowns
- Organised ‘Prisoners’ Self-images Development Campaign’ jointly with the Correctional Services Department

- Restructured the “Volunteer Fellowship” with five volunteer workers serving at different institutions to become the staff of the ‘Volunteer Fellowship’
- Held a short evangelistic training for prison ministry volunteers in Taiwan and Macau.
- Partnered with Stanley Prison to set up a Music Therapy Program
- Along with Save the Children Hong Kong helped set up the Inmates’ Children Service Scheme
- Set up “Angel Tree Program” to enable KSA to purchase Christmas gifts for the children of adult prisoners.

- Cooperated with the Chinese Zion Missionary Association and their “Reed Ministry” to set up the “Deep Grace Fellowship” and meet weekly to shepherd rehabilitated persons and their relatives and friends
- Led by Brother Raymond Chan the “Fringe People” band re-recorded the third cassette tape “Music Notes in the Rainbow”.
- Arranged mutual visits and exchanges between prison ministers in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan
- Published the “Monthly Prayer” guide to promote to the church and believers in order to assist them to intercede for the needs of prisoners and prison ministry.
- On the recommendation of the Social Welfare Department, Mr. Wen Yizhuang, a Director of the Association, was awarded the “Meritorious service medal” on New Year’s Day in 1996 in recognition of Kun Sun Association’s continuous contribution to correctional services.
- In the same year, the Association was also awarded a “Commissioner’s certificate of Appreciation” by the Correctional Services Department in recognition of the efforts of the Association in the rehabilitation of prisoners

- The letter ministry created a magazine for adult inmates, called “Flight” Quarterly, which not only shares about faith, inspires inmates to face life positively, but also provides creative space for inmates
- Gave “Children’s Bibles” to the young children of inmates in prison as Christmas gifts.
- Organised evangelistic dinners for rehabilitated persons and their families
- Invited Stanley’s life sentence prisoners to paint and use their works to participate in the Painting Competition of the 5th International Prison Fellowship Congress

- The Charity Fund of Onesimus was established to support prisoners in further education and help provide relief to rehabilitated persons in need.
- For the first time, a five-day growth and training camp was held for the girls’ homes. The young people were allowed to go out for five days to participate in the event
- An annual calendar made from hand-drawn drawings by prisoners were used as covers and illustrations for publications of the Association, it was called “Redrawing Life series”
- Exchange meetings with the Christian Prison Pastoral Fellowship and the Corrections department of The Christian Alliance Seminary were held.
- The ‘Buffalo team’ changed its name to the Kun Sun Football Team

- Upon the recommendation of the Correctional Services Department, the Government Property Agency allocated a Unit at the Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital to KSA as a halfway house, and the “Crisis Centre / Dormitory” was renamed “Kun Sun House”
- Established the Rehabilitation Football Team, called the “Buffalo Team”, to unite and pastor the rehabilitated persons.
- An update for the primary school textbook “The Bible Today” (Part 5) added a section in the textbook about how KSA helps prisoners to be transformed.

- Established the ‘caring for overseas Hong Kong prisoners’ team, regularly writing letter to overseas Hong Kong prisoners, visiting them intermittently and caring for their family members in Hong Kong.
- The “Fringe People” band, directed by Brother Raymond Tang recorded the second cassette tape “The First Half of My Life”.

- The “New Life Fellowship” for young people was divided into zone gatherings, so the fellowships started in different districts, and the churches in the district provided mentors to receive the rehabilitated persons
- Rented a flat on Apliu Street to set up a “Crisis Centre and Dormitory” to provide food, lodging and counselling for adult rehabilitated persons.
- Partnered with Media Evangelism Limited to film “The Later Half of My Life”

- Directed by Brother Ronald Tang, a documentary film of the worship song “The Second Half of My Life” was recorded by the “Fringe People” at Stanley Prison, which was broadcast at the 1st Gospel Pop Festival.
- Conducted the “Stanley Prison Inmate Testimony Sharing Session” for the first time.
- Conduct visits to Hong Kong people serving sentences in overseas prisons and started letter ministry with them in order to share the gospel and disciple them.

- For the first time, moon cakes were given to inmates in Stanley Prison, this practice was expanded to gift packages being given to inmates in correctional institutions every Christmas.

- Began ministry at Pui Yin Juvenile Home, Pik Uk Prison, Letter Ministry, Tung Tau Correctional Institution. KSA moved from being predominantly youth focused to adult ministry.
- The inauguration of the first staff of the “the New Life fellowship” (Youth Rehabilitated Persons Fellowship) was inaugurated, and a total of seven people were appointed as staff members
- Stanley Prison’s Category A prisoners formed the ‘Fringe People’ in order to write their own worship songs.

- Started ministry at the Ma Tau Wai Juvenile Home (Retention) and at the same time Stanley Prison and Shek Pik Prison opened up for individual visits.
- For the first time the “Prison Evangelism Training” course was held.
