On the recommendation of the Social Welfare Department, Mr. Wen Yizhuang, a Director of the Association, was awarded the “Meritorious service medal” on New Year’s Day in 1996 in recognition of Kun Sun Association’s continuous contribution to correctional services. In the same year, the Association was also awarded a “Commissioner’s certificate of Appreciation” by the Correctional Services Department in recognition of the efforts of the Association in the rehabilitation of prisoners

The Charity Fund of Onesimus was established to support prisoners in further education and help provide relief to rehabilitated persons in need. For the first time, a five-day growth and training camp was held for the girls’ homes. Upon the recommendation of the Correctional Services Department, the Government Property Agency allocated a Unit at the Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital to KSA as a halfway house, and the “Crisis Centre / Dormitory” was renamed “Kun Sun House” Established the Rehabilitation Football Team, called the “Buffalo Team”, to unite and pastor the rehabilitated persons. An update for the primary school textbook “The Bible Today” (Part 5) added a section in the textbook about how KSA helps prisoners to be transformed.
Established the ‘caring for overseas Hong Kong prisoners’ team, regularly writing letter to overseas Hong Kong prisoners, visiting them intermittently and caring for their family members in Hong Kong. The “Fringe People” band, directed by Brother Raymond Tang recorded the second cassette tape “The First Half of My Life”.
